Art and culture, science and research, innovation and industry, education and business all played their parts in creating the city.
Edinburgh has a rich inheritance, characterised by a quality of life and urban environment that has no equal in Britain and is found only rarely elsewhere. Essentially, Edinburgh is a metropolitan centre of excellence in a provincial city scale. With a population of 471,000 and stretching no more than 7 miles across, it does not suffer from the urban sprawl of many capital cities.
Participants will get a chance to see famous Edinburgh historic sites as well as other arranged weekend activities during the programme.

The year round festivals ensure that the city’s inhabitants and visitors enjoy an unrivalled range of culture and entertainment with festivals celebrating music, theatre, dance, spectacle, science, film and visual art.
The Festival Fringe in particular is the largest arts festival on Earth and one of several festivals taking place in Scotland’s capital each August.
In 2011, the Fringe was made up of 41, 689 performances of 2542 shows in 258 venues.
