The University Accommodation Service will as far as possibly try to find on-campus accommodation for exchange students. Once accepted exchange students will be given the contact details for the Liaison Officer.
For those preferring private accommodation, there are estate agents located near the University who can be accessed via the web by searching Edinburgh estate agents, or Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre. Normally, minimum lease contracts are six months but this can be negotiated in most cases.
For those coming for a few weeks only, for one week courses in Semester 2b, early booking is advised for Kenneth Mackenzie House. This is Bed and Breakfast type accommodation offered by the University Accommodation Service and is located within five minutes walk from the School. The School is located in the city centre so you will find many sandwich shops, restaurants, café's and bars close by. The School also hosts its own cafe, Food for Thought.
Visas
Please note carefully the information about visa processing times. The letter issued by the University of Edinburgh Business School will be your supporting evidence to confirm that you have been accepted on a course of study in the UK.
Cost of living
In self-catering accommodation students can expect to pay around £100 per week for rent, £22 for lunches, £40 for other food, £15 for bills (fuel etc), £30 for personal expenditure and £10 for travel. Total £217 per week.
For Bed and Breakfast, the normal rate is about £25 to £30 per night.
Bank accounts
It is virtually impossible to set up a bank account for a short stay in the UK. We recommend that you use your home bank account and your credit card.
Health insurance
Exchange students are covered by the UK National Health Service.
