Application dates

Demand for places on all programmes is extremely high and places are allocated to suitably qualified persons on a first come first served basis. There is, therefore, clear advantage in early online application to the programme, uploading full documentation including references, transcripts and, where necessary, language scores to help us assess your case as completely as possible.

We recommend that you submit your application by 30 June 2012 if you require a visa.

Please also note the following points:

• If the programme is full before this deadline we will indicate this on our website
• Applications received after the deadline may be considered if there is no visa requirement and if the programme is not full
• University accommodation cannot be guaranteed for applicants not holding an unconditional offer by the end of July

Once an offer is made you have 28 days to accept this offer online and to pay your deposit.

Application process

Personal statement

You must include a personal statement as part of your application which should indicate your reasons for applying to the programme. The statement should be approximately 500 words in length and answer the following questions:

• Why have you selected this particular programme? You should also include other motivating factors and additional relevant information in support of this.

• What contributions do you feel you can make to the programme?

Career motivation

In addition to the Personal statement the Admissions Selection Panel would like to know your career motivations for following an MBA. Please address the following in approximately 500 words:

• My career so far
• My future career
• How I plan to get there

You may type your Personal Statement into the relevant box on the Programme tab in the online application form. If you wish to include any relevant knowledge, skills or training, please enter this information in the appropriate box also on the Programme tab. Alternatively you may upload a document containing this information with your application. In this case, you should use the “If you have a relevant document to upload that is not requested above, please upload it here” option.

CV/Resume

It is also necessary for you to provide a detailed CV to support your application.  This may either be done by entering your employment history on the Employment tab of the online application, or by uploading your CV as part of your application using the method noted above.

References

You are required to submit two references as part of your application, and to assist you with this we have provided a Reference request form. Please pass this form to your referees. Upon completion they should return the signed document directly via post, or alternatively a scanned electronic copy, to the relevant address on the back of the form.

During the online application process there is the facility to upload referee reports. his should NOT be used as we require MBA references to be submitted on the Business School reference request form available from the above link.

Interview

You may be invited to participate in a selection interview.

The interview itself is relatively informal and seeks to evaluate your suitability for the Edinburgh MBA programme. As well as discussing your application, the interviewer may wish to find out more about your personal qualities, motivations, and aspirations.

You should be prepared to discuss your experience and your expectations. Also, consider what you are able to contribute to the programme as a whole.

Applying online

All applications are via the University online system, so by clicking the link below you will be redirected to the relevant application page within the University website where you can begin the process.

You do not need to complete the application form in one session - you may save your application and complete it later by clicking on the "Save and return later" button on the application form. You will then be sent a secure link by email to allow you to continue your application at a later time.

On completion of the application process you will receive account details with your unique UUN (Universal Username). This UUN should be included in any further correspondence to enable us to match this up with your application.
