I graduated in 2005 from South-western University of Finance and Economy in Chengdu, Sichuan, PR China. My major was Finance. After a year working in HSBC commercial banking, I applied for and received an offer from the University of Edinburgh Business School to study the MSc in Finance and Investment.
The programme provides a well structured theoretical course as well as a series of interesting case studies. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to work for Wood Mackenzie during the summer. This summer intern experience really gave me the confidence to work in the UK.
After a year’s study on the MSc, I acquired analytical skills in financial researches and a comprehensive understanding of the financial industry. I am also able to present ideas and make an argument with confidence in front of other people.
All the lecturers, as well as my classmates, shared their rich working experience and passion towards this industry, which really inspired me. The most fun part was the group assignment and group work, where we learned from each other and were able to discuss our problems. We worked hard and played hard.
