Congratulations to Neil Pollock who has recently been awarded the prestigious James G. March Prize during the European Group for Organization Studies (EGOS) annual conference in Vienna.
Neil Pollock awarded the James G. March Prize

The prize is awarded biannually for the best article published in Organization Theory and pays tribute to Jim March who has been a great inspiration to many scholars within the EGOS community.

The winning paper reflects the diversity of social science perspectives as they relate to organisations, organising, and the organised. Furthermore, it offers a clear theoretical contribution to the scholarly debate, demonstrating impact, significance, critique, and novelty.

Alongside colleagues Luciana D’Adderio (Edinburgh Usher Institute) and Vern Glaser (University of Alberta), Neil was awarded this prize for the paper: 'The Biography of an Algorithm: Performing algorithms technologies in organizations'.

"We were delighted to receive this prize at the recent EGOS conference in Vienna," said Neil. "Our article's 'biography' approach is the fruits of a longstanding collaboration with interdisciplinary colleagues here in Edinburgh and elsewhere. Receiving this award shines a light on this research and community and demonstrates the need for new approaches to studying algorithms and artificial intelligence. We hope to continue developing this work and we our planning a book on the biography of artificial intelligence in the near future."
