Our culture
Located in the heart of Edinburgh, the Business School is home to an organisational culture underpinned by a strong sense of community, co-creation, and collaboration. Assisted by our modern facilities and accessible communal spaces, such as the Business School café, our roof terrace and spacious staff room, the Business School’s culture can be observed through the actions and participation of colleagues at team meetings and events, such as our monthly staff coffee and cake mornings.
We are proud to have an inclusive culture that welcomes and supports staff members from a diverse range of backgrounds. This diversity enhances our School environment by enabling us to provide a variety of learning experiences for staff and students alike.
More information on inclusion and diversity can be found on our equality and diversity page.
Hybrid working
Many of our roles here at the Business School are suitable for hybrid working. Adapted in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have found that this working pattern gives our staff the flexibility they desire to maintain a healthy work-life balance. To facilitate hybrid working, we provide our staff with the equipment they need to ensure a seamless transition from on campus to remote working.
More information about hybrid working at the University of Edinburgh is available on our hybrid working page.
Professional development opportunities
We are passionate about supporting our staff on their professional development journeys. This development is supported by our thriving coaching culture, with staff and students actively engaged in coaching conversations throughout the School, encouraging the growth of skill sets and the identification of career goals. We also provide the opportunity for staff to experience mentoring, as well as receive personalised feedback during annual review conversations. As an educational institution, we place high value on continued learning, and encourage our staff to expand their knowledge and develop new skills through various training activities and courses.
More information on our career and professional development opportunities can be found on our career development page.
