MSc Finance and Investment
I have always been passionate about finance and investments and it is the field in which I want to develop my career. Before studying at the University of Edinburgh Business School (UEBS), I worked in a bank in Colombia as an investment advisor. After returning following my MSc, I continued working in the same field but during the last few years I have had opportunities to apply my knowledge in different industries. I worked for two years as Investment Coordinator for the airline Avianca and I currently work as a consultant for the trading desks of a bank.
It is gratifying to share my experience of the Business School with prospective students and to encourage them to go and study in Edinburgh.
My degree prepared me for my future career by providing me with the theoretical tools that are needed in a competitive industry, like the financial industry. It also taught me certain soft skills that are important to succeed in my career.
The most valuable part of my degree was sharing my thoughts, knowledge, and ideas with people from all around the world, as well as being able to apply what I learnt in the real world.
Involvement with the Business School
Since I left Edinburgh, I have been involved in activities that the Business School has organised in Bogotá, including assisting with education fairs and MBA treks, and helping to organise alumni events. I am currently the UEBS Alumni group lead in the area.
It is gratifying to share my experience of the Business School with prospective students and to encourage them to go and study in Edinburgh. It is also amazing to show my city to current students and to hear what they think about Colombia and their stories and experiences of it so far.
