The Nick Oliver Memorial Fund has been established at the University of Edinburgh to support research into resilience in honour of Nick's long career as Professor of Management and as former Dean of the University of Edinburgh Business School.

Nick Oliver

Nick was one of the leading scholars researching the characteristics of resilient teams and organisations. His work examined resilience in a variety of settings, from the recovery of Japanese companies after the 2011 earthquake to how flight crew respond to unexpected emergencies, prompted by the Air France plane crash in 2009.

Nick was a passionate advocate of the importance of understanding resilience for effective organising, as demonstrated through his award-winning teaching. His expertise on this topic was frequently called upon by news media and industry experts alike. He was also committed to supporting new scholars in these fields of research.

The fund will support research in the field of resilience through the support of postgraduate study opportunities.
