Our MBA students take part in a Consultancy Week at the end of October each year. As part of the Consultancy Week, students work in small groups on an issue facing a specific charity. Students present in person and their presentation forms the consultancy report.

Why work with our MBA students?

Our students are among the best in their field and combine their strategic business and management skills and specialist knowledge, refined by the MBA process. The average student is 31 years old and each year the class represents a wide range of industries and nationalities, giving them a unique international perspective.

Types of project

An issue with which the client charity would like some assistance such as internal people issues, organisational efficiencies, stakeholder liaison and funding opportunities. The key is to ensure that the scope is focused so that students can concentrate on the specific issue. Examples include:

  • Researching and recommending solutions to an internal resource issue identified by the charity
  • Conducting a stakeholder analysis for the charity identifying:
    • which current stakeholders are most strategic and should be the focus of key attention
    • which current stakeholders are taking time/resource but are not strategic
    • new stakeholder opportunities
  • Creating new product/service offering to make the charity more financially sustainable and, concurrently, expand its reach
  • Increasing core funding (B2B/public bodies) by researching new, optimum opportunities
  • Increasing funding (B2C) by researching innovative ways to generate new income
