Overview

Reform Scotland, in partnership with the Centre for Strategic Leadership, University of Edinburgh Business School, are delighted to invite you to an evening with the celebrated and best-selling historian Tom Holland.

Tom Holland's new book Dominion: The Making of the Western Mind reveals how we in the West came to be what we are, and how and why we think the way we do. It ranges in time from the Persian invasion of Greece in 480BC to the ongoing migration crisis in Europe today, and explores what made Christianity so revolutionary and disruptive. Dominion has received rave reviews:

Tom Holland is fun to read, monstrously erudite, wickedly joyful, and ahead of the established consensus, on average, by four years, three months, and two days.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Fizzing with insights and challenges, this is one history book that is timely and important, as well as a feast of intellectual entertainment.
Sunday Times
It's not often that you come across a book that completely transforms your understanding of the world.
Spectator

In conversation with Chris Deerin, Director of Reform Scotland, Tom will discuss Dominion's insights and arguments. He will sign copies of Dominion, which will be available for purchase at the event.
