Overview

Following the success of our first 'In Discussion' Session with Alan Jope, we're pleased to confirm we will now host a full series of these events from August 2020 to July 2021.

We're delighted that MBA alumna Chearyp Sokoni, Chief Financial Officer with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) in Zambia, will be joining us in October.

We will cover a number of topics, including her memories of studying for her MBA at the Business School; what she learnt during her time with the Audit Commission in the UK; her role at IDC and how she is helping to transform key businesses in a range of sectors across Zambia; work life balance and much more.

Throughout the session we will answer questions submitted from attendees in the chat box. You will also have the chance to submit questions in advance of the event during your registration.

About the Speaker

Chearyp joined KPMG as an audit trainee in Malawi, rising to audit manager in 2001 in Zambia, before leaving the firm after 10 years to study for her MBA at the Business School in 2005–6. While doing this, she completed two six-month contracts with the Audit Commission.

Her MBA completed, she returned to Zambia in 2008 to become Chief Internal Auditor at Copperbelt University.

She then joined the Industrial Development Corporation in 2017. Wholly owned by the Zambian government, the aim of the IDC is to create and maximise long-term shareholder value as an active investor and shareholder of successful state-owned enterprises.
