We are delighted to announce that the REWIRE project “Regulating Workplace Inclusion for Neurodivergent Employees” has been awarded a prestigious ERC Starting Grant of €1.5 million.
IS.Helpline@ed.ac.uk

Led by Dr Gottardello over five years, REWIRE will investigate why neurodivergent employees can experience markedly different levels of workplace inclusion despite formal equality and disability protections. The project will examine the gap between rights on paper and what happens inside organisations, exploring how employers, HR professionals, line managers, occupational health practitioners, trade unions and legal actors interpret and implement their responsibilities.

I am delighted to have been awarded this ERC Starting Grant. It provides an extraordinary opportunity to build on several years of research and to learn from the experiences of neurodivergent people across Europe. I am especially grateful to the University of Edinburgh’s Research Office, as well as to my colleagues, collaborators and the neurodivergent people whose insights have shaped this work, for their invaluable support and encouragement.
Dr Debora Gottardello, principal investigator of the REWIRE project
