Interview Process for Professional Services Staff

Once the application deadline has passed and the post is closed, applicants will be notified of their outcomes, either successful or unsuccessful at this time. Successful candidates will receive an email from Human Resources with details, such as date, time and location, related to their individual interview. Candidates for Professional Services roles will be interviewed by a panel of relevant Professional Services staff. Candidates will be asked a series of competency based questions that will provide individuals with the opportunity to discuss how their experience is relevant and transferrable to the role in which they have applied. At the end of the individual interview, candidates will have the opportunity to ask the panel any questions they may have. In addition to an interview, candidates may be asked to carry out other relevant exercises such as presentations, role plays, scenario tests or psychometrics. There may also be an opportunity to meet other members of the team to find out more about what it is like to work at the Business School. Candidates will be informed of the outcome as soon as is practicable after the interview. All interview candidates will be offered feedback.

The first presentation will be based on research related to a given topic and will last between 10-15 minutes. The second presentation will be teaching based, lasting 10-15 minutes in the style of a mock lecture, and will be delivered in front of the department in which the role is located.

Assessment Centre

Once the application deadline has passed and the post is closed, applicants will be notified of their outcomes, either successful or unsuccessful at this time. Successful candidates will receive an email from Human Resources with details, such as date, time and location, related to the assessment day.

Prior to any assessment day activities, there will be a presentation from the School giving information about the programme, as well as an opportunity for candidates to ask any questions they may have. The assessment day will be facilitated by a group of assessors made up of relevant Professional Services staff and will begin with a group task, followed by a group presentation which will be open to questions from the assessors. Following these activities, there will be a networking lunch where candidates will have the opportunity to ask questions about the Business School to the staff members present. The assessment day will also include an individual interview, where candidates will be asked competency based questions. Once all individual interviews are complete, candidates will be informed of the next steps involved in the process and will have the opportunity to ask any final questions they may have.

Onboarding

Successful candidates will receive a conditional offer of employment from Human Resources, subject to the approval of additional documents, such as Right to Work documents. Once these have been approved, offer holders will be issued with a formal employment contract to be reviewed and signed. From there, Human Resources will be in contact to provide further details, such as a start date.

Upon joining the Business School, new starters are required to complete a series of onboarding activities, such as personal learning courses and payroll tasks. The length of the onboarding period will vary depending on the type of role, and will be discussed with the relevant line manager. New starters will be provided with a Business School laptop, as well as other necessary pieces of hardware.
