Qi Li Headshot

Lecturer in Accounting

Background

Qi joined the University of Edinburgh Business School as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Accounting in September 2026. Before this, she was an assistant professor at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University.

Qi’s research examines accounting as a socially embedded practice shaped by cultural, political, and institutional forces. Drawing on critical perspectives, her work explores how professional identity, embodiment, and accountability are constructed and negotiated, with a particular focus on gender, mobility, governance, and regulation. She is also interested in how accounting knowledge can be communicated and re-imagined through artistic and experimental forms.
