The organisers of the 12th IPA conference now invite the submission of papers. Your paper should be submitted electronically (Word document) no later than 15 January 2018.

The IPA conference is an established forum for research into the social, political and organisational aspects of accounting theory and practice.

Consistent with its interdisciplinary agenda, the IPA conference brings together accounting researchers with broad social science interests from other disciplines such as anthropology, history, sociology, philosophy, and political economy. The conference welcomes papers that discuss the broad scope of accounting from a variety of theoretical perspectives. The organisers aim to highlight emerging intellectual and social issues and encourage new agendas, as well as stimulate debate within and between established paradigms.

A distinctive feature of the IPA conference is the constructive evaluation that each paper receives. All submissions are double-blind reviewed and each accepted paper is presented by a discussant, not the author.

The parallel sessions are 45 minutes long and comprise the discussant’s presentation of the paper (20 minutes), the author’s response (10 minutes) and open discussion (15 minutes). Reviewers and discussants are central to the continuing success of the IPA conference and we encourage wide participation through the discussant process.

Paper submission

Please note that the first submission concerns full papers. There will be opportunities to send in an updated version of the paper following double-blind review, and after being accepted.

Full paper submission deadline:
15 January 2018

All papers will be reviewed before being accepted for the conference. If the paper is accepted, it will be assigned a discussant who will present the paper. By submitting a paper, you therefore agree that you, or one of your co-authors, will:

  1. Review a paper submitted to the conference
  2. Present and discuss another paper during the conference
  3. Discuss your own paper during the conference.

Please note: Points 2 and 3 only apply to authors whose papers are accepted to the conference.
