ACCA
Students on the MSc Accounting and Finance programme benefit from ACCA exemptions from specific papers at the Fundamentals level.
On completion of this MSc, students are exempt from papers F1-F4, with further exemption available from paper F9 on completion of the courses Foundations of Finance Theory and Research in Corporate Finance.
CFA Institute
MSc Accounting and Finance participates in the CFA Institute ® CFA Program Partner Initiative ("CFA PP"). This means that the MSc in Accounting and Finance is judged by the Institute as covering in some way at least 70 per cent of the CFA curriculum. The degree will therefore assist those who choose to study for the CFA qualification.
As a CFA Program Partner we are also required to teach a module on ethics and standards of professional practice. This will be done via workshops that will comprise a combination of lecture material, case studies, group discussion and guest lectures.
CIMA
The University of Edinburgh is an official University partner of CIMA and as such graduates from our MSc in Accounting and Finance will be able to join CIMA through an accelerated route designed specifically for MBA and Masters in Accounting graduates. This route will allow graduates from the programme to take the CIMA master’s gateway assessment.
Once successfully passed, individuals will be granted 11 exemptions from CIMA’s certificate, operational and management level exams. Meanwhile those who do not wish to take the gateway route will be eligible for exemptions from the certificate level and will enter directly into the operational level objective tests of the CIMA professional qualification.
