Join the Masters of Change
Edinburgh's renowned entrepreneurial spirit gave me vital business exposure.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation programme overview
Dr Hajar Mozaffar, Programme Director, Emmanuel, MSc student, and Bryce, 2021 Alumni, talk about the opportunity this programme offers to explore and test business ideas.
[Bryce, MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation alumni]
So when you join Edinburgh University as a student, you join a very vibrant and welcoming community. Having that link with such a large and prestigious organisation will always be in your benefit.
[Dr Hajar Mozaffar, Programme Director]
Whether you are thinking about launching your own business or climbing the corporate ladder as a product manager or an innovation manager, or working as a consultant in big firms. Our core courses equip you for that. You have the opportunity to work with real world clients like IBM, the Scottish Government, to solve their innovation challenges.
[Bryce]
And I managed to get accepted for the, opportunities with the Scottish Government. And I worked a lot with data transformation and at the end of it all I managed to get a job before the Masters had even finished.
[Emmanuel, MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation student]
Every lectures I look forward to when they bring in industry leaders to come and talk to us. When we had our technological courses they come. When we had our Project Management, we had an expert. In Venture Creation we had CEOs, CFOs. They came into the class, and they give us real life experience.
[Dr Hajar Mozaffar]
You have the opportunity to, explore your ideas, to develop your business ideas, and to test them in your business plan dissertation. Some of our students have actually launched their businesses after having discussions around their sort of ideas. And that's one of the unique aspects of the E&I programme.
[Emmanuel]
Startup Weekend. Great time to, like, explore ideas. Working in small groups... generate, business model, business plan and then present.
[Bryce]
Being in industry as well I work quite a lot with the Startup Weekend, and seeing some of the startup ventures that come through that programme is actually exemplary and some of the pitches that I've heard from
that as well have been fantastic. Edinburgh University Alumni Network is extremely useful for me in my career. You still have access to that community, you still have people to turn to for knowledge and for advice on particular things that you might be facing in industry.
[Emmanuel]
The university have a system in place to prepare everyone that passes through for great impact.
