A New Model of Innovation in Enterprises Systems?

Research Summary

The research will look at the innovation processes occurring around the next generation of ERP development. In particular, it will investigate how these firms manage their wider ecosystem and evolve to a platform-based business.

It is known that much of the software innovation occurs in the extended space in co-creation processes (e.g. user-led innovation, open innovation, generification, generativity). Much less known, however, is the understanding about how software vendors engage others in the co-creation, once these formations inevitably come with various conflicts of interest. We are keen to know:

  • How software vendors manage their alliance with implementation firms to continuously promote software innovation?
  • What type of innovation are partners willing and able to co-create?
  • What are the main issues related to the creation and co-ordination of joint innovation assets and possible resolution alternatives?
