A number of scholarships and funded projects for new students beginning their PhD programme are available.

We seek to award scholarships to the best applicants, based primarily on academic merit. All scholarship applicants must follow the instructions on how to apply for each scholarship.

All scholarship applicants must also submit an online application for a place on the PhD programme. See the How to Apply page for more details. Awardees of external scholarships which cover tuition fees may not be considered for the scholarships we offer.

Please note: For all scholarships, we strongly advise that you submit your programme application at least 5 working days before the scholarship closing date. If applying for the scholarship requires you to submit an application using the University of Edinburgh Scholarship Portal, you will not be able to access this until you have applied for our doctoral programme.
