Research in Accounting and Finance

Dr Kathi Kaesehage discusses her research into how entrepreneurs and SMEs can use their influence in society to help achieve an economy that is based on fewer emissions.

The research interests of the Accounting and Finance Group connect with and inform theoretical and practitioner debates in the field. Our research culture is enhanced by a vibrant and integrated community of doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, a seminar programme hosting leading academics, participation in international networks, and increasing links with practitioner communities. There is a strong interdisciplinary dimension to our work, involving collaboration with researchers within and beyond the group, the School, and the University.

Accounting

This research stream focuses on the wider applications of accounting in society, as well as historical methods and strategies used by those practising in the profession.

Business and Climate Change

Issues considered in this area include facets of carbon accounting, finance, and management, such as the development of new standards.

Finance

Research topics in this group encompass issues including behavioural finance, asset pricing, corporate finance and governance, and aspects affecting financial markets and institutions.

The group benefits from numerous database subscriptions, including Datastream, Thomson ONE Banker, CRSP and COMPUSTAT through WRDS. Subscriptions are kept under review, and funds are available to subscribe to new databases as required in order to support research and teaching.
