The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation are offering doctoral scholarships to Canadian citizens who are full-time first or second year students registered (or in the process of registering) in a doctoral programme outside Canada.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Canadian citizens.

The scholarships will be awarded to applicants who are either:

  • Applying to study a full-time PhD programme in the 2020/21 academic year, and who have accepted an offer of admission by 5 January 2021
  • A current student in their first or second year of a full-time PhD programme

Value

The scholarship awards $40,000 per year for up to three years, plus up to an additional $20,000 annually to support research-related travel. Each scholarship holder is also paired with an accomplished Canadian mentor.

How to Apply

Candidates interested in applying must register on the Trudeau Portal:

Once your registration is complete, candidates will be able to create an application for the 2021 competition. Your application must be submitted by 23:59 EST on 5 January 2021.

Once you have made your application, please contact the CAHSS Postgraduate Research Student Office to confirm by emailing pgawards.ed.ac.uk.


Award Announcement Date

The University will review all applications submitted to the Trudeau portal and nominate candidates to go forward. The CAHSS Postgraduate Research Student Office will contact applicants directly with the outcome of the nomination process, and the next steps.
