Academia is my third career and I have an interdisciplinary background that combines technology and business. After completing my MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, with concentration on artificial intelligence, I spent about ten years working as a software developer in the USA and Iceland. The next ten years I continued to work in IT firms, but moved to management roles, including Director of Accounts Management, Director of Marketing and Deputy CEO. All three firms I worked for were start-ups, and I was among the first or early shareholders of all three. Thus, I not only have an extensive network and links with industry, but I also have first-hand experience of the world of business and entrepreneurship. I have continued my involvement in industry through sitting on the Boards of Directors of a number of IT firms. I entered academia in 2004 by embarking on PhD studies at Copenhagen Business School, which I completed in 2008. My academic career thus far has been very successful, with a large number of publications in high-ranking journals and successful applications for research funding.
