Lecturer in Business Analytics


Matthias Bogaert obtained his Bachelor and Master of Science in Business Engineering (Option: Data Analytics) and PhD in Business Economics from Ghent University (Belgium). He currently works as a lecturer in Business Analytics at the University of Edinburgh Business School, where he teaches predictive analytics and modelling of data. He is also a visiting professor at Ghent University, where he teaches social media and web analytics. 

His research focuses on applications of descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics in business. His research interests include social media analytics, customer analytics, machine learning and ensemble modelling. His research has been published in several international peer-reviewed journals such as Annals of Operations Research, Decision Support Systems, and Omega.
