Roles and Responsibilities

Wendy McCallum is Executive Education Lecturer in Climate and Sustainability at the University of Edinburgh Business School’s Centre for Business, Climate Change and Sustainability (B-CCaS), which offers research, advice, consultancy and executive education to catalyse positive social and environmental change in the interaction of climate, business, policy, and society. 

Background

Wendy has worked with international development agencies, financial institutions, and government departments and agencies to foster environmentally conscious and socially just development. Building on this experience and networks, Wendy works to bring together financiers, government, business, academia, and communities to shape innovative, socially just, and sustainable approaches to development. She premises this work on the combination of her practical experience, including working for a leading development finance institution in Africa, and academic qualifications in economics, future studies, and development finance. Wendy holds a Master of Philosophy degree in development finance (cum laude) and is a PhD candidate at the Stellenbosch Business School.

Wendy is passionate about teaching and researching the role of finance in sustainability transitions and in particular the application of innovative finance and financial technology (FinTech) to sustainable finance. She teaches postgraduate programmes and executive education courses with a specific focus on sustainable finance, FinTech, innovative finance, and financial sector regulation. Wendy is a Research Associate at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions (CST), Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
