Wednesday 08 March 2017

Edinburgh has become a hotbed of talent and entrepreneurship, but is it Europe’s hidden champion?
The city is home to ambitious incubators, a top ranking university, has an international pool of talent, fintech companies and most unicorns per capita. In this panel talk chaired by Jonathan Moules, Entrepreneurship Correspondent at the Financial Times, we will be hearing from Paulo Carvalho, General Director for Economy and Innovation at Lisbon City Council (Portugal) and Catherine Bischoff, Associate Director, Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre at University of Waterloo (Canada).
What assets do these cities have – and how do they make the most of those? How are these cities fighting the brain drain? And how do they gather stakeholders around a vision and narrative that has traction with the world’s media, and gathers the attention of investors?
