Exemptions are available from the following organisations:

  • The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • The Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA)

Following registration as a student member of these Accountancy organisations, our graduates are granted exemptions in a number of the professional examinations. The number of exemptions varies—please check with the relevant Accounting organisation.

The accreditation guidelines outline the existing arrangements of the University of Edinburgh Business School with the six major professional accountancy organisations in the UK. Students will attain the maximum exemptions available by following the recommended degree structure in the accreditation guidelines.

See also the following observation on the outstanding performance of graduates in the Test of Professional Skills (Stage 2) of ICAS professional examinations:

It is satisfying to note that our graduates have been performing very well in Stage 2 of ICAS professional examinations. In this stage of the examinations, our graduates have consistently attained a much higher overall passing rate when compared with the results of the overall accredited institutions grouping throughout the years. The results are a testimony of the quality of our graduates and the knowledge and skill competencies that they acquired during their studies at the University of Edinburgh Business School.
