What made you choose to study at the University of Edinburgh Business School?
"I had done a three-year LLB course at Edinburgh University and knew that Law was not going to be my chosen career path. The one-year Business School course gave me the opportunity to really understand business and give me the opportunity to spread my wings beyond Scotland."
What are your memories of studying at the Business School?
"Hard work! Great mix of people. Constant learning and a sense of achievement."
What's the one thing you think current students need to develop or learn before entering the modern workplace?
"Flexibility–what you end up doing will not be what you thought. Constant learning–the journey starts here and you never stop acquiring new knowledge and skills."
What key thing that you learnt at the Business School do you still rely on today?
"An ability to assimilate information and reach summaries and conclusions...while others are still debating the question!"
Proudest work-related achievement to date?
"I have three. Co-founding the British Design Fund, a fund focused on supporting and mentoring well-designed British product businesses. Rebuilding the R&A and the Open, working with one of the most professional sports brands in the world. Having an ex-employee say that I was the best boss he had ever had."
The journey starts here, and you never stop acquiring new knowledge and skills.
