The applicant should have a specific research reason to be in Edinburgh, either because of materials available in the University library or because of a research link with a current member of the University staff.
Individuals wishing to be considered as a visiting scholar need to obtain the agreement of a member of academic staff within the School to act as their academic host.
Applicants should make contact by email initially with their potential host, from the relevant subject area. Once he or she has agreed to host the visiting scholar, the academic host will contact the School Research Office to process the application. A research visit will incur a bench fee (usually £150 per month). The fee will be agreed prior to a formal invitation.
