MSc in Management programme overview

Dr Augusto Voltes-Dorta, Senior Lecturer, George, MSc student, and Kashish, 2023 Alumni, talk about living in Edinburgh and the flexibility this programme offers for students to pursue their own area of interest.

[George, MSc Management student]
There's a number of things that really attracted me, about this programme. One was the university's reputation. I think it's ranked consistently in the top 50 schools globally, and it's backed up by a lot of these accreditations, which really gave me peace of mind when selecting this university. And I like how the course too sort of allows people to find their little pocket of interest and then pursue it. I think the flexibility and like the number of choices of courses you get, I just think it really helps people feel comfortable with the decisions that they make.

[Dr Augusto Voltes-Dorta, Senior Lecturer]
So if you choose the MSc Management programme, you will get into a very flexible offering. You will have the choice of some core courses in the first semester. But really in the second semester you can choose to specialise in different areas, maybe Accounting, maybe Finance, Economic Analytics, Human Resources. So you can choose all your options in one area. Or maybe you can, diversify. It's completely up to you.

[Kashish, MSc Management alumni]
Having worked in one specific field, I wanted to now explore different areas of a business. Management and the university really provided me that opportunity and overall, it really helped me build my, understanding of business and build my confidence in different areas of business. Like Economics and Business Analytics, it gave me a lot of, exposure to what a consulting experience would look like. And I am working at a consultancy now. I still remember my first taxi from the airport to my accommodation. I honestly felt like I was in a movie set. It was honestly really beautiful. And every morning, even today I wake up and I look at how beautiful it is.

[George]
Not only are like the faculty members and the student development team really helpful, but I think just being surrounded by such a multicultural environment and so many people from so many walks of life gives you this perspective that I never really had. It's just been so encouraging to, like, been a part of this little community.
