Lecturer in Predictive Analytics
Roles and Responsibilities
I’m currently a Lecturer in Predictive Analytics at the University of Edinburgh Business School.
Fellow of Royal Statistical Society, Royal Statistical Society Young Statisticians Section Committee Member.
Member of Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (MIMA)
Member of London Mathematical Society (LMS)
Member of International Statistical Institute.
Background
Before joining Edinburgh, I was a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Exeter. In the previous, I worked as a research fellow in the Department of Informatics, University of Sussex (UK) during the period 2017 - 2019, and as a postdoc in the Department of Computer Science, University of Exeter (UK) during the period 2019 - 2020.
Research Interests
I develop probabilistic machine learning methods that address real-world challenges in fairness, prediction, and human behaviour. My research bridges rigorous mathematical theory with practical applications and my work on human mobility patterns revealed how social networks influence predictability in daily movement—findings with implications for urban planning and public health.
My research spans:
- Bayesian non-parametric models (Gaussian & Student-t Processes)
- Ethical AI and algorithmic fairness in credit scoring
- Time series forecasting and financial risk modelling in option pricing
- Complex network analysis and human mobility & urban planning
I've secured competitive research funding, developed open-source tools used by the research community, and teach postgraduate courses in statistics and network analytics. I'm always interested in collaborations that push the boundaries of responsible, interpretable machine learning.
