Overview
Artificial intelligence is impacting every aspect of our lives, including how we create art and innovate. Several artists are using data - created by humans, machines and living systems - as art material to explore how AI can help to nurture or erode our relationships with the natural world and other human beings, and engage in art-technology collaborations that in some cases result in unexpected innovations.
Join artists, creative technologists, researchers, and other members of the Imagination Lab who are creating innovative projects that transform real-time air quality data into a powerful visual and auditory experience, create imaginary digital artists, deep fakes and a never-ending AI-generated philosophical debate, sonify the breathing and communication of plants, and other experiments with imagination at the intersection of AI, art and nature.
Through art demonstrations and a panel discussion about the role of imagination and interdisciplinary collaborations in creating these experiments, this event invites everyone to reflect on how arts can help us to innovate and use AI in more creative, ecological and inclusive ways in a more-than-human world.
This public event is part of the programme of activities of the Imagination Lab, led by Dr. Piera Morlacchi, University of Edinburgh Business School, a collective of interdisciplinary researchers, artists, technologists, entrepreneurs, innovators, educators, and students, aiming to ignite our collective imagination and foster new ways of thinking and acting across business, innovation, entrepreneurship, and futures thinking.
