The University of Edinburgh has been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and liaising with government and NHS agencies to get their latest advice on public health guidance. Our priority is the health and wellbeing of our students, staff, and visitors.
The University is currently operating as normal, and in line with guidance from the UK government and the World Health Organisation, we ask that you take sensible precautions to help with this.
Before Attending an Event
If you have travelled internationally within the last 14 days and have any symptoms associated with coronavirus, please follow the guidance of the UK government (or your home country national government if outside the UK) to decide whether it is safe for you to attend the event.
At An Event
It is important that we all take practical steps to maximise hygiene at the event and recommend you:
- Wash your hands on arrival at the School
- Use hand sanitiser gel which will be provided
- Avoid shaking hands or other physical contact with other attendees. This should not stop you interacting with other attendees; please consider a friendly wave or a small bow as alternative greetings!
In order to maximise hygiene at the event, we will take the following measures:
- We will maintain the highest standards of hygiene around the registration desk and among our staff in general
- We will not provide delegates with name badges (which we normally recycle) and would ask that you verbally introduce yourself to other delegates
- We will not use shared handheld microphones for Q&A. Instead you will be able to submit questions digitally on Mentimeter. You will be given instructions on how to use this when you arrive at the event.
We are closely monitoring the situation and will update our events guidance as and when circumstances change.
