This is a fantastic achievement and a true testament to Jaida’s success to date.
Having always had a passion for finance and a determination to meaningfully impact Egypt’s financial landscape, Jaida was awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship, enabling her to pursue her MSc in Finance at the University of Edinburgh Business School in 2018-19.
The MSc in Finance was a transformative experience, enhancing my expertise in financial advisory, investment analysis, and strategic financial planning, while also strengthening my skills in communication, leadership, and adaptability — all crucial to my career advancement.Jaida Gamal, MSc Finance 2019
Upon returning to Egypt, she played a critical role at the Ministry of Finance as a Finance Expert with the Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs, focusing on Egypt’s budgetary financing needs.
Following her experience there, combined with the technical expertise and leadership skills honed through her UK education, she moved to her current role as Financial Advisory Manager at Grant Thornton, where she provides transaction advisory services on high-profile public and private deals, contributing to Egypt’s economic resilience.
In a congratulations video shown at the ceremony, Dean, Professor Gavin Jack, said:
“Congratulations Jaida on this fantastic achievement. It’s wonderful to learn about how your MSc in Finance and experience at the Business School, including benefiting from the University’s cultural diversity and participating in the Edinburgh Award and other activities, has helped you in your career journey so far.
“In particular it’s inspiring to hear that you are having such a positive impact on the finance sector in Egypt including working in the Ministry of Finance and now your current role as Financial Advisory Manager with Grant Thornton.”
