Background
Mary's educational background includes the study of MA (Hons) Business Studies and MSc by Research (Management) at the University of Edinburgh. Her ESRC-funded PhD explored how children and young people engage with charities by examining how they learn about, donate and relate to charities.
Research Interests
Mary’s interests revolve around nonprofit marketing, with a specific focus on social, societal and charities marketing. She is particularly interested in the use of data and behavioural science to understand consumers and user experiences. Mary has taught a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in marketing strategy, societal marketing, and the future of marketing over the past fourteen years. Her teaching considers the use of marketing theories, techniques and technologies in a variety of commercial and nonprofit contexts.
