Background

Dr. Chao Yin is a senior lecturer in finance at the University of Edinburgh Business School, a position he has held since 2022. Previously, he served as an assistant professor at Durham University from 2020 to 2022 and at the University of Reading from 2017 to 2020, following the completion of his Ph.D. training at the ICMA Centre, University of Reading.

Before his Ph.D., he obtained an MSc in International Securities, Investment, and Banking with Distinction from the ICMA Centre, University of Reading, an LLM in Securities Law from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and a BA in Law from Renmin University of China.

Dr. Yin also holds a Chinese Legal Practitioner License.

Research Interests

Dr. Chao Yin's research interests primarily lie in the area of empirical corporate finance. Over the past few years, his research focus has gradually shifted from more traditional corporate finance fields such as institutional investors, corporate financial policies, and mergers and acquisitions, to more interdisciplinary and frontier topics, including ESG, sustainable finance, supply chain finance, leadership cultural heritage, and cross-country capital flow.

Dr. Yin's research has been published in a collection of leading academic journals, including the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Corporate Finance(x3), the British Journal of Management (x2), among other reputable journals.
