Background
Melanie is an experienced Non-Executive Board Member with over 20 years of global investment banking experience.
Melanie is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director at Daiwa Capital Markets Europe, serving as Chair of the Board Risk Committee and as a Member of the Audit, Remuneration, and Nominations Committees. Previously, Melanie served as Chair of the Board of the United Way UK (the UK branch of the world's largest privately funded charity), Member of the Board of Trustees of the W11 Opera for Young People, and Chair of the Board of the Junior League of London.
Melanie has worked in various roles in investment banking: Corporate Finance, Head of Global Cross-Border Debt Capital Markets, Head of European Debt Syndicate, with particular expertise in large-scale M&A financing, sales and trading, and Asset-Backed Securities structuring and sales. She has been a member of executive Risk, Underwriting, and Capital Commitment committees for over 25 years.
Melanie has executive experience in New York, London, and Tokyo, including nearly 10 years at Goldman Sachs in New York, 14 years with Salomon Brothers/Citigroup in London, and Mizhuo International Plc, and most recently at UBS. At Mizuho, she served as Division Head and member of the Executive Committee.
Further, Melanie is a CEO of retail and hospitality SMEs in her local village in the South of England and has also been acting CFO of a small family owned television production company.
Melanie graduated from 'seven-sister' university Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York, and was awarded an A.B. in International Political Economy, incorporating a triple major in Political Science, Economics, and French.
A US national, Melanie lives and works in London and Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, and is happily married with two children.
