Background

Ronan joined the University of Edinburgh Business School as a Lecturer in Finance in 2012, having previously lectured at Queens University in Belfast. He is a passionate teacher having won various awards for teaching including the Business School's Best course, Best Postgraduate Feedback and Most Inspirational Teaching. He is also actively involved in the School's executive education provision, teaching a variety of courses on the UK Pension System and Quantitative Equity Investment to domestic and international delegates.

His primary research interests are in empirical corporate finance, empirical asset pricing and the finance of professional sport.  His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, the European Journal of Finance, the Journal of Risk and Insurance and European Sports Management Quarterly.

Ronan is a CFA charterholder and has industrial experience in Corporate Finance and Taxation at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.  He has consulted in the area of pension risk analysis for the UK media regulator, Ofcom. He is an enthusiastic investor and undertakes applied financial research in conjunction with industry partners.
