Programme Overview and Timeline
The University of Edinburgh Business School is proud to offer this unique and exciting opportunity to recent graduates to be part of the first UK Business School Graduate Leader Programme, designed to help you develop the skills and experience needed to pursue a professional services or leadership position within the higher education sector.
Over the course of two years, Graduate Leaders will embark on a number of placements, rotating to a new department every few months. During these placements, Graduate Leaders will lead on a primary project that is relevant to the current context and issues of higher education. This exposure will provide Graduate Leaders with invaluable experience, knowledge and skills that will facilitate their professional growth in this role and beyond.
What will you experience?
This programme will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience in a number of different teams and departments in the Business School and across the wider University of Edinburgh. During your time on this programme, you will have the opportunity to experience higher education from an organisational viewpoint. From Student Support to Human Resource Management, this programme exposes Graduate Leaders to many different operational activities that will prepare them for a career in higher education.
To aid your professional development, you will receive support at every stage of this programme, from interactions with your buddy, coach, mentor and a network of fellow higher education graduates on similar programmes in universities across the UK.
Learning and Development Opportunities
Over the course of two years you will have the opportunity to get involved in a number of exciting projects, as well as dedicated learning, development and training days which can include everything from conferences and networking events, to coaching and mentoring activities.
This programme is tailored to suit the aspirations and goals of each Graduate Leader, with numerous opportunities provided to facilitate your professional development. The Business School will work closely with you to create a learning and development plan that ensures you have the skills, knowledge and experience required to pursue a career in your desired Business area.
Benefits
You will be appointed on a permanent, open ended contract on a salary of £27,181, subject to review each year, with the rotational Graduate Leader Programme lasting for two years. After this point, you will have the requisite skills and experience to apply for a higher graded position within the Business School or wider University, should you wish.

Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for curious, creative individuals with a keen interest in higher education to join us on this new and exciting graduate programme. Our Graduate Leaders are professional, confident self-starters with strong problem-solving, planning and organisation skills, including the ability to successfully project manage, multi-task, plan ahead, prioritise and deliver to deadlines. Eligibility
Eligible candidates will have a Business related degree, either from the University of Edinburgh or elsewhere, and will also be a recent graduate of the University of Edinburgh.
