Scheduling your studies

As this master’s degree is an MBA distance education programme, you will need to set aside approximately 5 to 9 hours per week for reading, lectures, tutorials, and assignments. This is an average requirement and may vary slightly depending on the course and assignment submission dates.

Each course typically includes:

  • 16 hours of pre-recorded lectures and other activities which you can work through at your own pace.
  • 4 live tutorials - while some courses may vary slightly, we aim to schedule tutorials on Wednesdays from 12:00 to 14:00 (UK time) whenever possible.

Format

This MBA programme adopts a distance education format. It consists of specially produced and customised video lectures, which include short exercises with answer notes to help reinforce your learning, along with both self-directed and guided reading. You can watch these lectures at a time that suits you. These are complemented by a range of interactive, live online tutorials and discussion activities, giving you direct access to lecturers and fellow students. You will be part of a vibrant, supportive virtual community, with social and networking opportunities available throughout your time on the online MBA programme.

The programme is delivered online via Learn, one of the virtual learning platforms used by the University of Edinburgh. This platform provides access to course materials, assignments, grades, feedback, lecture recordings, resource lists, and much more. Students need to ensure they have all the arrangements in place for seamless access to this and have a stable internet connection to participate in the interactive elements of the online MBA programme.
