Hello, I’m Jiwon, a second-year PhD student in the Accounting and Finance group. From May to June, I had the fantastic opportunity to spend six weeks as a visiting scholar at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School.

Upon arriving at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, I received a warm welcome from my host, Professor Maretno Agus Harjoto. He helped me set up my office and offered invaluable advice throughout my stay. Before my visit, we had been collaborating on my first paper, "Ethics of Coal Power Plant Phase-Out." During my time at Pepperdine, we worked together in person, holding daily meetings, testing various regression models, and conducting a comprehensive literature review.

Pepperdine University has four campuses in California: Malibu, Irvine, West LA, and Calabasas. I had the unique experience of working at each of these campuses, immersing myself in a different location every week. I also had the chance to present our paper briefly during faculty meetings, allowing me to meet and engage with a diverse group of business school faculty members and share my research topics. These interactions expanded my academic network and fostered a collaborative spirit essential for future research endeavours.

This visit was an enriching experience that significantly advanced my research and provided me with valuable insights and connections in the field. I am thankful for this opportunity and look forward to future collaborations. The warm hospitality and intellectual exchange made this experience both professionally enriching and personally rewarding.
