Professor Gbenga Ibikunle, Chair of Finance at the University of Edinburgh Business School, has been formally inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE), Scotland’s National Academy.

The honour recognises Professor Ibikunle’s research at the intersection of financial economics, data science, regulation and policy. He focuses on the microstructure of modern financial, energy and environmental markets.

He is one of 12 University of Edinburgh academics named in the RSE’s 2025 cohort of Fellows. The formal induction ceremony took place on 16 June at the RSE in Edinburgh, bringing together new Fellows from academia, business, and public life.

It is a privilege to be elected to the Royal Society of Edinburgh. This recognition reflects not only the work I have undertaken but also the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and the role of research in shaping a more sustainable and equitable society.
