The MSc Finance Project is an opportunity to engage with students specialising in Finance on a piece of research and analysis carried out between May and August. Alongside the academic dissertation, the main output of the project is an executive summary and/or presentation to the client.

What projects are suitable?

Students on the MSc Finance programme undertake a range of courses, including:

  • Corporate Finance
  • Financial Markets and Investments
  • Financial Statement Analysis
  • Statistics for Finance
  • Sustainable Finance
  • Venture Capital and Private Equity

Projects within any of these areas would be of interest to our students.

Examples of projects

  • Trends in UK Tech companies [merger and acquisition transactions]: a function of macroeconomic changes or natural market evolution?
  • Are fixed income markets currently pricing carbon transition risk, and if so, to what extent?
  • Are there links between corporate performance and stability of shareholder base? To what extent does the stability of the shareholder register impact the earnings potential of a listed company, and the resulting investment return? Why might this be?
  • Have companies with good environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) practices produced superior stock price performance? Additionally, have companies with good environmental, social, and corporate governance practices performed better in crisis periods?
