The MSc International Human Resource Management (IHRM) Project is an opportunity to engage with students specialising in IHRM on a piece of research and analysis carried out between May and August. Alongside the academic dissertation, the main output of the project is an executive summary and/or presentation to the client.

What projects are suitable?

Students on the MSc International Human Resource Management programme undertake a range of courses, including:

  • Core Competencies for HR Professionals
  • International Human Resource Management Policies and Practices
  • Multinational Enterprises and Comparative Employment Relations
  • Organisational Behaviour
  • Reward Management

Projects within any of these areas would be of interest to our students.


Examples of projects

  • How does context (such as national culture, industry, organisational size) impact leadership?
  • What is the impact of remote working on employee engagement during a global pandemic?
  • Benefits and challenges of online learning in different socio-institutional contexts
  • Implementing fair reward in international NGOs?
  • What impact does the availability of data have on the creation of a more diverse workforce in a multinational firm?

Qualifying criteria

  • Complete an application form setting out clear project objectives
  • Have an interesting research topic that meets academic requirements
  • Willingness to communicate business details to the student
  • Ability to engage with the student throughout the project
  • Commitment to share necessary data and arrange access for data collection (NDAs can be signed as part of the process)
