This recognition is a testament to the strength, impact and quality of the School’s Alumni Mentoring Programme which empowers students and alumni to connect, grow, and inspire one another.

The Alumni Mentoring Programme is a key part of the Edinburgh Award for Effective and Responsible Leadership for our 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students. In the 2024-25 academic year, over 100 students were matched with 82 alumni mentors, one of the largest cohorts yet.

A mentoring service’s decision to apply for a quality standard demonstrates a commitment to delivering a service which focuses on the expectations and requirements of all its stakeholders. The achievement of the quality award is confirmation that the University of Edinburgh Business School is applying recognised good practice to all aspects of its work. We wish them every success with the new cohort of mentors and mentees in the new academic year.

Upon receipt of the award, UEBS Head of Coaching, Rona Doig said:

“We’re delighted to have achieved the Scottish Mentoring Network’s Quality Award. The School’s Alumni Mentoring Programme is popular with our 3rd and 4th year undergraduate honours students. It reflects our distinctive coaching culture and also our commitment to providing a personalised approach to the professional development of our students.

“This accreditation and external endorsement is a key milestone and recognises our ongoing focus on quality and best practice. Our alumni mentors provide invaluable support in helping our students prepare to transition into their future careers and the impact on students’ employability skills and self-confidence is significant.

“This award is a well-deserved recognition of the dedication, collaboration and hard-work of all involved – our alumni, staff and students.”
