Information for MBA applicants wishing to defer their offer to the next year of entry.

Applicants holding an offer for a programme starting in the coming academic year may request a deferral to the following year of entry. These requests will be considered on an individual basis, but applicants wishing to defer should take the following points into consideration:

  • The deposit must be paid before a deferral is agreed. This should be done within 28 days of receiving the original offer.
  • If the original offer is unconditional, the application and deposit will be carried forward to the new year and a new unconditional offer will normally be made in the autumn. However, if existing qualifications will be out-of-date before the new entry date, no offer will be made until the qualification has been updated. This must be completed by 31 October.
  • Once an unconditional offer has been deferred, the deposit will be non-refundable.
  • If the original offer is conditional, the application and deposit will be carried forward to the new year, but no offer will be made until the conditions have been fulfilled. Conditions must be met by 31 October. If conditions have not been met by that date, the deposit will be repayable on submission of a certificate confirming that an attempt has been made to meet the required condition after the deferral was granted.
  • Any request for a deposit refund should be made by 30 November.
  • If no attempt has been made to fulfil the condition after the deferral was granted, the deposit will not be refundable. Applicants may only defer their offer once.
