MSc Finance, Technology and Policy

How did your degree prepare you for your future career?

It equipped me with different aspects of finance, other than the core fundamentals of finance itself. This helped me understand the industry and related fields better, as the world of finance is becoming more and more interdisciplinary.

What key thing that you learnt at the Business School do you still rely on today?

During the time I was at the Business School, design thinking was mentioned a few times. The concept is very useful when I encounter on-the-job problems. I also learnt the value of diversity from the Business School and how powerful it can be in a workplace.

Alumni wisdom: if you could offer one piece of advice to current students, what would it be?

If I could turn back time, I would have taken a closer look at the course outlines and study them more carefully before starting the course, because everything was run so quickly! I also would have taken the opportunities to go outside more often and explore the city. Edinburgh is a compact city and you can always gain memorable experiences like nowhere else just by wandering around!
