Global Strategy and Sustainability programme overview
In this video, Dr Winston Kwon (senior lecturer), Enia (MSc Global Strategy and Sustainability student), and Anisha (2023 alumni of this programme) talk about why Edinburgh is one of the best places to study sustainability.
[Enia, MSc Global Strategy and Sustainability student]
I had a couple of very, very interesting courses that really changed my life. Responsible Investing, Business Sustainability Practices.
[Anisha, MSc Global Strategy and Sustainability alumni]
We had really fantastic lecturers who really cared about the student experience.
[Dr Winston Kwon, Senior Lecturer]
The University of Edinburgh is one of the best places to study sustainability. We have expertise in terms of Carbon Management, Climate Change, Carbon Markets. And this programme benefits from close association.
[Enia]
I really like how Scotland, and in general, the UK, is one of the biggest ecosystems for startups in greentech.
[Anisha]
Sustainability in Scotland has been a really strong policy agenda and private sector agenda for a number of years, with Scotland really leading the way when it comes to sustainability.
[Enia]
Carbon Accounting, I really love that subject. It was very interesting to actually measure the impact that we have as any individuals, you know, carbon emissions and as well be able to understand the policies that are being implemented.
[Anisha]
Other highlights include some of the many external speakers and guests that we had. This helped me kind of, connect with people who are already working in sustainability and helped me start thinking about what I really wanted to do in this space. I'm currently a managing consultant at ERM. It is the largest pure play sustainability consultancy globally.
[Enia]
So I got involved in a lot of networking events, like the Innovation Summit that was in Glasgow. I got involved in a greentech cohort conducted by the City of Edinburgh. So all of these really built my experience. And as well, having all of these professors from different countries, from different cultures, sharing their particular point of view and experiences. It was very nice to be part of this community of like minded people.
