The Academy works to promote social sciences in the UK for public benefit by showcasing, championing and advocating for the social sciences, and by raising awareness of their immense value. The Academy’s distinguished Fellowship comprises 1,500 leading social scientists from academia, the public, private and third sectors. All Academy Fellows are selected through an independent peer review which recognises their excellence and impact, including their wider contributions to social sciences for public benefit.
"I feel honoured to become a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences," said Neil Pollock. "There has never been a more crucial time to research the sociology of digital technology, particularly as we face and comprehend the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence. I feel privileged to support the Academy's objective to promote the crucial contribution social science makes to understanding and transforming the world we live in."
